Children/Youth Hearthside Cooking Workshop

Do you have a child interested in all things culinary? How about letting them spend some time in our historic kitchen with 2 of our own culinary interpreters!

Our second Children/Youth Hearthside Cooking Workshop will introduce students to the 3 basic cooking methods – baking, boiling, and frying. Students will receive hands-on experience cooking over an open fire, while putting these methods into practice. They will compare and contrast cooking methods of 200 years ago, with those of today.

Attendees will make and taste several foods typically cooked in the 18th century. The menu for the day includes biscuits, apples, bacon, succotash, and apple pie. Join us for this unique learning experience your taste buds will always remember!

Reservations & Requirements

Pre-registration for this event is required. Because of the limited workspace, class size is limited to 8 students.

This workshop is scheduled to last about 3 hours and is open to anyone age 9 – 17. Participants are REQUIRED to wear close toed shoes, or they will not be able to participate.

Parents are encouraged to stay and watch the class and their child. Please remember this is THEIR workshop, and they need to be the ones doing the work. Due to space, as well as safety guidelines, siblings are not welcome, no exceptions!
