Experience History Come Alive!

Step back in time and join the encampment of the Overmountain Men as they recreate the pivotal evening of September 24, 1780. This event marks the beginning of their courageous march to victory at King’s Mountain. Each year, the Overmountain Victory Trail Association retraces the historic steps from Abingdon, VA, to King's Mountain, SC, commemorating the journey of these brave men.

Event Highlights:

  • Music: Enjoy period music in the Barn Lot starting at 6:45 PM.

  • Evening Story: At 7:00 PM, immerse yourself in the captivating story of local settlers and farmers who boldly fought to secure their independence and stop the westward expansion of the British Army.

The Overmountain Men are here from the Overmountain Victory Trail Association, on their way to Kings Mountain to battle the British troops commanded by Major Patrick Ferguson. The narrative story will be performed by reenactors portraying the men who marched on the OVTA trail.

Bring your own chair and be part of this memorable evening under the stars (weather permitting). If the weather does not cooperate, the event will be moved inside to our auditorium.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to relive a crucial moment in American history with the Overmountain Victory Trail Association.
